Prof. Ariel Kushmaro is a full Professor at the Ben Gurion University of the Negev, Israel, at the department of Biotechnology Engineering, The National Institute for Biotechnology in the Negev. Research activities focus on the development of various techniques for environmental sensing, bioremediation, environmental microbiology, biofilms and drug discovery; including novel antibiotics and quorum sensing inhibitors. His research is aimed at understanding the structure and function of microbial communities and their dynamics with regard to the environment. So far, he published over 100-refereed journal articles, over 120 conference abstracts, 9 book chapters and several patents. His lab facility includes all the materials and equipment necessary to carry research in microbiology and drug discovery.
